Théo Hennequin

Théo Hennequin is a Brussels-based graphic designer and visual artist with a conceptually driven practice spanning culture, music and sport. He collaborates with institutions, artists, festivals and collectives, from major museums to independent structures, to articulate distinctive positions across print, digital and motion.

His practice is rooted in the circulation of images and forms between swiss rigour, experimental layering and popular cultures, from the football stand to the mountain trail, using the distance between them as a space for inquiry.

Flouter les frontières entre design graphique et publicité

Flouter les frontières – Entre design graphique et publicité (‘Blurring the Boundaries – Between Graphic Design and Advertising) is a publication that explores the grey area where graphic design and advertising intersect.

Through a book that is both critical and sensitive, the project highlights the ambiguity of a discipline torn between visual expression and commercial logic. Advertising codes — seduction, promise, effectiveness — are subverted and deconstructed, revealing their power to influence.

A spread comprising six pages and double-page spreads from *Blurring the Boundaries*: the cover, an introductory page with black text, followed by double-page spreads featuring a thesis with underlining and crossings-out in grey felt-tip pen, rotated columns of text and old cigarette adverts
A double-page spread from *Blurring the Boundaries*: against a grey background, old cigarette adverts (portraits of women, with the slogans ‘It’s toasted’ and ‘Luckies pay more’) are covered with columns of text rotated in various directions; on the right, text mirrored through transparency
