Théo Hennequin

Independant graphic designer and visual artist based in Brussels (BE), working on projects in editorial design, visual identity, web design and motion design. Drawing inspiration from both Swiss graphic design and contemporary and experimental movements, he experiments with typographic compositions and the layering of elements. In doing so, he develops a unique aesthetic and theoretical repertoire.

He is also working on two separate projects. The first is a research project exploring the world of football and fan culture, focusing on aspects off the pitch and the inner workings of the sport. The second is a project drawing inspiration from mountainous landscapes, sports practised in such environments, and mountainwear.

About

Sierre-Zinal

2023

Font: Helvetica (Max Miedinger)

Sierre–Zinal is a visual identity designed for the legendary Swiss trail race linking Sierre to Zinal, famous for its alpine panoramas and the ‘five 4,000-metre peaks’ visible from the route.

The design plays on the conventions of Swiss typography and geometric structure to create a metaphor for the mountain itself. The bold lines form a triangle, a shape emblematic of the mountainous landscape, and the title ‘Sierre–Zinal’ is arranged in an upward then downward trajectory, evoking the effort involved in the trail run: the ascent to the Hotel Weisshorn followed by the descent to Zinal. The colour gradient ranging from purple to red symbolises the runner’s progress through the night until sunrise over the peaks.
